How do you keep a short hair dog from shedding?

I have a 3 year old Beagle that Sheds and I was wondering if there is a trick to help him not shed as much? or at all?How do you keep a short hair dog from shedding?
My dog also shedded alot until I took her to the groomers and they used a technique called Shed X (SHED-X Treatments provide a thorough hydro cleaning of the skin and coat). Serioulsy reduced the amount of hair she shedded. We take her every 5 weeks for shed x. IT IS AWESOME!!!How do you keep a short hair dog from shedding?

This weekend at adoptions Someone really liked oreo but not her long hair. (too much shedding) they wanted a short hair dog. Well I told them the only difference between a long haired dog and short haired dog shedding is you can see the long hair before you eat it. ( They didn't adopt anyone) Didn't want them too anyway. you don't. Dogs shed naturally. you can't just stop shedding. Turn down the heat in your house and he may keep his coat thicker for a while. LOL!
